1986: Structural Systems Inc. was founded in Charleston, WV, by Mike Murray as a one-person engineering firm, specializing in detailing services for local fabricators and general contractors in the region. With a focus on precision and quality, the company quickly gained a reputation for its expertise in steel design.

February 2000: Eric Semrau joined forces with Mike Murray, and together they expanded the business by launching a steel brokerage. This new venture allowed them to design, bid, and manage steel projects for contractors and fabricators throughout the area, further establishing their presence in the industry.

January 2002: Structural Systems Inc. merged with Custom Rail and Fabrication, a 7,000 sqft facility in Dunbar, WV. This partnership brought Jim Vandal on board as a third partner and provided the capability to perform in-house steel fabrication. With this expansion, the company was able to serve a growing customer base and take on increasingly complex projects.

January 2005: To meet the demands of larger projects, Structural Systems Inc. purchased the Republic Container building and property, a 7-acre site with a 53,000 sqft facility in Nitro, WV. This move significantly expanded our capacity and positioned us to better serve our clients with larger, more ambitious steel fabrication projects.
